Operations Manager Job Description 1:

 Leading Manufacturing and Design Company of XXX products is seeking an Operations Manager.  Primary responsibilities include to; plan, direct, and coordinate the organization’s total manufacturing activities.  Area of responsibilities include; all aspects of Production, Equipment maintenance, and Quality Management.

Skills/Experience Required:

A minimum of 5 yrs management experience in manufacturing environment. Technical or mechanical background with additional management/supervisory studies preferred. Strong leader, with solid computer skills in MS Word and Excel. Able to work under pressure, in fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for all aspects of Purchasing, Planning, Production, Industrial Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Management, Shipping, Receiving, and Inventory management functions.

The following is a broad list of functions that are covered by the Operations Management function. This list is by no means a total representation of our functions.

  1. Responsible for the  selection and Management of the Manufacturing Systems which drive Manufacturing Operations
  2. Responsible for the update and maintenance of the Bill of Material data-base.
  3. Responsible for the correctness of raw material usage data on the Bill of Material data-base. 
  4. Scheduling, releasing and follow-up of Manufacturing Work Orders to meet sales forecast or historical sales.
  5. Load level Production based upon department capacities.
  6. Coordinate inventory levels to prevent over-supply or shortages that could cause lost sales.
  7. Establish schedule priorities and follow-up of production orders and purchase orders to meet customer requirements.
  8. Release purchase orders based upon material usage to selected vendors.
  9. Maintain management assigned personal and company performance measures, which will be used to measure individual performance.
  10. Participate in the supervision and process of the Annual Physical inventory
  11. Manage the company’s investment in Finished Goods and Raw Material Inventory.
  12. Co-ordinate the life cycle transfer of items from active to discontinued to close-outs, and ensures that Company catalogues are updated to reflect the changes.
  13. Responsible for the completion of Production Work Orders to Scheduled dates.
  14. Responsible for maintaining a Shipping Service Level in excess of 95%.  
  15. Responsible for reporting and correcting Production material over usage.
  16. Responsible for reporting and correcting defective manufactured product.
  17. Responsible for ensuring that Production staff produces to levels that meet or better manufacturing standards. 
  18. Responsible for ensuring that production employees comply with company policies.
  19. Work closely with Accounts payable to resolve invoicing and credit issues.
  20. Handle the disposition of Quality issues with suppliers.
  21. Management of the Plant Layout and Plant Maintenance function.
  22. Responsible for implementing process improvements and automation required to improve production output and productivity levels.
  23. Annual targets for Purchasing, and Manufacturing cost savings will be established, as well as targets of increased efficiency in the purchasing and manufacturing areas.

 

You will report direct to the company President. Your position will require a close working relationship with the company Controller.  The company is a fast growing entrepreneurial company with great expectations for the future. As with most such companies, there are challenges to be met and hard work expected.
